For years, I lived down the road from Market Square Restaurant and never got a chance to visit. Sure I wanted to, as friends and relatives heaped praise on the place, but sometimes things just don't work out. Well, while we were taking a scenic and ambling drive up north, we found ourselves somehow back in Paris and were also quite hungry. I figured now was a pretty good time to try it out, as I was in the company of someone who'd never been as well, so we went on in and were seated immediately. It was before the end of the normal work day but well after lunch so it wasn't very crowded, definitely a difference from what I used to see even when we were just passing through to Sunday River. The waitress was extremely pleasant and friendly, and was probably one of the best waitresses/waiters I've ever had! She gave us enough space to enjoy our meals while still managing to show up whenever we needed something else - regardless of what it was. To start, we had the Potato Skins were just amazing and, for the price, was a very generous portion (8 large skins)! They used real bacon, cut into smaller strips, instead of bacon bits. The skins were huge, and had a bit more potato than I'm used to on potato skins but it was definitely better that way. The only downside was that the sour cream was on the side, so it was very cold and didn't seem to go together with the very hot potatoes... although I suppose we should have just mixed it together! Next I had the Turkey Club with fries, and my boyfriend had the Chicken Parmesan sub with fries. The fries were handcut and very tastey, and our sandwiches were very good. The turkey wasn't deli meat but actual, thick slices of turkey breast. My only complaint was my bacon was slightly crispier than I like it, but my boyfriend tried some and didn't seem to mind! I tried a bit of his Chicken Parm and it was simply delicious! The chicken was just the right level of crispiness. We were too full for dessert (and had to take half our food home with us!), although I'm sure it would have been amazing; and we were pleasantly surprised about the free refills - especially since the soda didn't taste very watered down or syrupy at all. Overall, the restaurant had a very homey/small-town atmosphere, which honestly it should as that is what that area is. I always felt comfortable there, and this restaurant really captured that feeling. It is real honest, simple, and good food - and not very expensive at all! If we hadn't ordered the appetizer, it would have been just about $10 per person for what we ordered, although if we had an entree it would have been closer to $15/person. For the price though the food was very good with good portion sizes! Highly recommended if you live in the area or are just passing through on 26.

Stopped in for breakfast. Service was awesome! The food was good, eggs were cooked perfectly! The ribeye breakfast was wonderful. Planning on checking out lunch and dinner here too!

Food was good. Service was okay. We sat at the bar to avoid taking up room at a large table. Waitresses gabbed about customers and tip amounts as well as about being out of multiple items. Complained about having to make chocolate milk because they were out. My boyfriend I and work at Disney so we expect top notch service, something we felt we didn't get due to the complaining going on behind the bar. Focus more on customers and keep the rantings out of customer earshot.

Pretty good breakfast. Service was excellent. I asked for a biscuit and the server suggested I get it grilled. She was right! Home fries were disappointing. Good basic food.

I went there Friday for dinner and had the prime rib. It was very good, cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

You can not go wrong eating here !! Best Turkey Clubs this side of the Mississip ! On Tuesdays & Thursdays they make fresh Popovers & they are de-lisc-ious !! Home made food, family style pricing, fast-friendly service !!! win/win :)

Food was good, if you could get served and if all the the food came at the same time and not when everyone else at the table finished eating!!!

They have the best onion rings in town and they usually make great burgers. Take out service can sometimes be problematic when they get really busy.

The food was very good. French toast was tender and golden, served with wild. Blueberries and rwsl maple syrup. The belt buster was served with eggs perfectly cooked and raisin bread made on premises. The bacon was crispy and the sausage was browned and juicy.. Service was cheerful and attentive. Prices are very reasonable.

Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy my meal here. I was there with friends and we all ordered Shipyards, and were served what was without a doubt Bud Lite (and flat to boot). We were told the bread was "home-made" but it was literally white bread straight out of the package, not even toasted. Our entrees seemed to be frozen dinners. The service, however, was excellent and friendly.

When I come back and visit South Paris I usually stop in once. Always good food and nice people. I have been coming here since it was Bean's Restaurant back in the 70's.

I was in this remote area of Maine for a weekend on business, and searching for a place to eat. After reading the glowing review already left, my wife and I decided to give it a try, mostly because all the other places in town were either fast food or outdated mom n' pop type places. The place was just ok, in my opinion. We ended up spending around $50 on a meal for the two of us, with an appetizer and I am accustomed to getting pretty gourmet food for that price in my home area in North Carolina. I ordered the lobster claw/knuckle for an appetizer. The lobster could have been seasoned a bit more, and the butter it was in didn't taste like real butter (perhaps margarine?). I ordered a lobster roll with coleslaw and french fries. The fries were just ok, a bit on the greasy side, and the lobster roll was a cold 'lobster salad' type sandwich (for some reason I thought I was getting hot lobster, oh well). The coleslaw was just average in taste. My wife ordered the stuffed breaded haddock with sweet potato fries. Her fries tasted pretty good. The haddock was just a haddock filet with lots of stuffing/breading packed around it. It was probably the best seasoned thing we had, but the ratio of fish/breading seemed a little off balanced for the price ($15). We were full so didn't get dessert. It was just ok .. it might be the best there is around here though, not too many other places looked real promising.

Ok, so i'm a local and Market Square is a life staple. the place has been there since time began and that's fabulous. the prices are reasonable (esp for breakfast and fish fry Friday night) and there's always someone you know there. if you aren't local, we'll talk to you any way :-) its just a good home-y small town Americana diner

The perfect place to stop for breakfast on the way to the ski mountains. Above-average breakfast food at 1994 prices. I had eggs, french toast and bacon and I think it all came out to a hair over $5. Even their version of the breakfast mega-meal was only $7 or so. The servers were friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and full of charmingly accented locals.

My husband and I ate here the other night, and we left disappointed. Nothing we ate was outstanding. My husband had a ham dinner special, and while the portion was generous, the ham was extremely salty, much saltier than ham usually is. I had Alaskan Pollack which tasted fine, but not exceptional. We left feeling like they do not take pride in their food. They simply serve average food without much attention to flavor and quality. Most of the ingredients seemed to be boxed/processed/frozen, rather than fresh. We probably won't bother to go back.

Four words : good cheap breakfast food. This isn't a gourmet dining experience, but it's a good economical option. Very laid back atmosphere, and its a great place to meet and have a conversation. Parking can be tight. If nothing appears to be available drive across the street and park behind the library.

We come to papoose pond campground every year and one day this year we were just out driving around looking for a place to eat after going to the new balance outlet store. We found ourselves looking up places on yelp and this place came up. With 3 kids we decided on this place because of the American cuisine and the pricing. One son got the burger and the other got the chicken fingers from the kids menu and we got our daughter the grilled cheese. All were nice size portions and we even brought back some leftover chicken fingers!! My wife got the open faced roast beef sandwich and I got the lobster roll. All of our meals were great...my son said the burger was the best he had ever had and at 10yrs old he has had quite a few from a lot of restaurants. Pricing was great for our family of five our bill was only $45.00!! The only down side to our visit was the "hand-cut French fries" they were definitely frozen and seems like they were throng into a fryolator and sat in the grease too long.

Great family run place right on the way to Sunday River. The perfect pre-ski breakfast--classic diner style omelets, big waffles. We leave early on ski days to be able to make a Market Square stop.

Good, solid, fairly priced New England food. This was my first trip back to the place in 20-plus years but it was as good as I remember. Friendly staff and killer homemade desserts were a good topper. I recommend the haddock fish and chips wrapped up by their banana cream pie.
